Explore ethical decision-making in business and economic contexts. This course examines how organisations and markets respond when profit, fairness, responsibility and long-term impact come into conflict.
This course is suitable for learners studying or working in business, economics, management, law, politics or public policy, as well as anyone with a serious interest in ethical decision-making in commercial and institutional settings.
Both assessments must be submitted and both are marked. Your final grade reflects the quality of your work across both submissions.
A 1,000–1,500 word essay responding to an ethical scenario or question drawn from the course material. You will be asked to construct an argument, weigh competing priorities and reach a reasoned position.
A 10–15 minute Viva with your personal tutor. Depending on the course, this may take the form of a structured tutorial, a defence of your written work, a presentation, a problem-solving discussion or a guided Q&A — designed to assess your genuine understanding and ability to engage with the subject beyond the page.
